FAQ

 The starting point A1 Licence.

A1 Licence to be taken on a 125cc and candidates must be at least 17 years of age, 4 sessions.

This course, which is conducted on a 125cc machine, combines CBT initially, with further off road and on road training culminating in the DSA Module 1 and Module 2 tests.
This course is intensive and is only suitable for riders who have previously ridden a geared machine on the road. It starts with your CBT on the first session and we will aim to get you to as good a test standard as possible during this first session. The second session is devoted to training and preperation for the Module 1 Test. The third session will include your Module 1 Test and preperation for your Module 2 Test by riding the likely test routes around Kings Lynn. On the fourth session we return to Lynn and you will get at least three mock test runs around the town in preperation for your Module 2 Test, which will be in the afternoon.

After passing the test you can still only ride a 125cc machine but of course you can remove the L plates and can take a pillion passenger.

The next Step, A2 Licence.

Honda CB400 Super Four, silky smooth and low seat hight make this the ideal bike for the A2 Licence.

A2 Licence to be taken on a bike of at least 395cc and between 25kW and 35kW and candidates must be at least 19 years of age, 5 or 6 sessions depending on progress. This could be the ideal category for a smaller Lady who might feel intimidated by a 600cc bike.

Normally scheduled over 2 weeks to suit the pupil, this also commences with your CBT on the first day, which would usually be on a 125cc bike. We move onto the 400 on session 2 and this would start off with time on the track to get you used to the bigger machine and we would practice all of the manoeuvres required to pass the Module 1 Test . The 3rd session will include your Module 1 test and training around the areas of Kings Lynn where you are likely to go on your Module 2 Test. On the final session we return to Kings Lynn and you will get at least 3 mock test runs around the town before taking your Module 2 Test.

After passing the A2 test you can ride a bike restricted to 35kW, so long as it hasnt been restricted by more than half it's original power and either 2 years after passing the A2 or when you get to 24 you can then do the A test (Direct Access)

The Final Hurdle, The A Licence, Direct Access or Progressive.

A Licence, (Direct Access) , taken on a bike of at least 600cc and at least 40kW, candidates must be at least 24 years old, or have held an A2 Licence for 2 years, 3 or 4 sessions, experienced riders only.

Normally scheduled over 2 weeks to suit the pupil, this also commences with your CBT on the first day, which would usually be on a 125 unless you are doing the progressive route in which case you would just do the final 3 sessions on a 600. We move onto the 600 on session 2 and this would start off with time on the track to get you used to the bigger machine and we would practice all of the manoeuvres required to pass the Module 1 Test . The 3rd session will include your Module 1 test and training around the areas of Kings Lynn where you are likely to go on your Module 2 Test. On the final session we return to Kings Lynn and you will get at least 3 mock test runs around the town before taking your Module 2 Test.

Riders taking part in this course must have a good previous riding experience. Once this test has been passed riders will be allowed to ride a machine of unlimited bhp.

3 Session courses for experienced riders who already have a CBT

For riders who already hold a CBT and plenty of on road riding experience, all of the above courses become 3 sessions but depending on what experience you have we might need to assess you over a 1 hour lesson to make sure that you are suitable for the course.

It was April 2009 when the 2 part, Mod 1 and Mod 2 Test was introduced and this has'nt changed. With plenty of experience behind us we have an excellent pass rate and our best run on the Mod 1 test is 55 first time passes on the trot. Well done to all pupils and especially Jody who made it 50 out of 50. Just for good measure he went on to pass his Mod 2 test in the afternoon and he is pictured here with both of his certificates.

There is no doubt that the hardest part of the Mod 1 test is achieving the correct speed for the higher speed manoeuvres and you only get 2 chances to get it right. We train for this on the safety of the track and can record your speed by radar, so you will be well prepared for the requirements of Module 1.

The Module 2 Test, involves a 35 minute ride around the test centre area, where we spend plenty of time training before your test.

Alex and Charlie were our first 2 pupils to take the new test and they passed both modules first time with flying colours. They both felt well prepared for the Mod 1 after the time we spent on the track. Well done to them both, it was nice to get off to a good start.
